The Jewel is comprised of the Grand nine, across the street from the hotel; and the Woods nine, set in the interior of Mackinac Island. The Jewel features scenic beauty, lush landscaping and meticulously manicured tees, fairways and greens.
The Grand nine was built in 1901 and redesigned in 1987. The Woods nine, added in 1994, was designed by golf course architect Jerry Matthews. ATTENTION GOLF LOVERS!
The Grand Hotel’s golf course has two unique courses. The front nine is called The Jewel and the back nine is called The Woods. Enjoy fantastic, scenic views of Lake Huron and the Round House on the Jewel. The Woods is on top of the Island with views of the Mackinac Bridge and the Upper Peninsula.
After completing your nine holes you will be transported with your clubs for a 15 minute horse drawn carriage ride to the second nine holes.
The Jewel has a driving range net to help you warm up before your round of golf. The driving range net is included in your green fees.
Private golf lessons are available by Jason Horricks, a PGA Certified Instructor.
Titleist rental clubs are available.

Rich in history and tradition, the Wawashkamo Golf Club on Mackinac Island, Michigan offers a special golfing experience for members and the public.
The historic course was designed by Scottish golf pro Alex Smith in 1898 and is one of the few remaining links courses in America.
Named by members of the Island’s Anishinabe or Chippewa Indians, Wawashkamo means “Walk a Crooked Trail.”
