Golf Digest ranks TimberStone

TimberStone at Pine MountainIRON MOUNTAIN — TimberStone Golf Course has been selected eighth in the “Best In State” rankings by Golf Digest magazine.

The rankings are part of Golf Digest’s biennial America’s 100 greatest courses package and will appear in a spring 2008 issue.

TimberStone, located at Pine Mountain Resort, is the only course in the Upper Peninsula to ever make the “Best In State” rankings.

Golf Digest has conducted America’s 100 greatest golf courses ranking since 1966, making it the oldest and most respected ranking in the game.

The magazine’s panel of 800 low-handicap male and female golfers nationwide played and rated the courses on criteria including shot value, resistance to scoring, design variety, memorability, aesthetics, conditioning and ambiance.

TimberStone will unveil a new pro shop “Timbers on the Green” in the spring as well as a short-game practice area.
